ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: POLICY AND GUIDELINES
Department: Human Settlements
Branch: Policy & Planning & Research
Designation: Assistant Director: Policy and Guidelines
Location: 222 Smit Street, Braamfontein
Primary Function
Provide strategic support to the sub-directorate in the development of sound and responsive policies and policy implementation guidelines using an understanding of the Departments and City’s core service delivery mandate.

• Provide leadership and management;
• Enhance policy dissemination, engagement and implementation within desired timeframes and sectors of influence;
• Mitigate risk associated with operations in line with the legal framework or policies and procedures of the City;
• Improved [planning, coordinating and monitoring towards improved service delivery;
• Manage specific administrative and reporting requirements associate with the sub directorate and individual performance;

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
• A Degree / NQF level 7 in the following fields:
• Housing/Human Settlements, Public Administration/ Public Policy, Development Studies; Law, Urban and Regional Planning or related Social Science discipline.
• 6 - 7 years work experience in the housing and human settlements environment with a focus in the field of policy development, analysis and research;
• Minimum of at least 3 years working experience of local government functions;
• 3 years in the junior management level post;
• Experience in management consultants \service providers with the focus on delivery high quality outputs on set time frames and aligned to the set objectives;
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable policies, legislation and international agreements applicable in the human settlements space;
• Sound knowledge of policy development;
• Knowledge of principle and practices applicable to the local government environment;
