ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: POLICY AND STRATEGY REF NO: DOTP 27/2023
(12 Month Contract)

CENTRE : Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government

DUTIES : Collect and collate performance information for the period 2019 to present; Contribute to the development of the End of Term Review, including analysis of provincial; Performance and intergovernmental processes; Write and / or edit sections of the End of Term Review; Contribute to the development of a strategic framework that emanates from the End of Term; Review recommendations.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS : An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent); A minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Recommendation: Honours Degree; A valid code B driver’s license. Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Latest advances in Public Management; Public policy analysis and public policy development processes; Strategy development, strategy management and strategy monitoring and review processes; Modern systems of governance and administration; Policies of the government of the day; Global regional and local political, economics and social affairs impacting on the provincial government of the Western Cape; Latest trends in public sector innovation and innovation methodologies. Skills needed: Writing and Reporting; Analysing; Deciding and Initiating Action; Working with People; Relating and Networking; Presenting and Communicating Information; Persuading and Influencing; Planning and Organising; Research; People Management; Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting; Critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving; Communication (written and Verbal). Ability to analyse, conceptualise and implement policy and strategy; Ability to work independently and as part; Able to work collaboratively and flexibly across teams within the organisation. Strong inter-personal, communication, and relationship management skills.
