DUTIES
Identify projects that will aid effective and efficient service delivery and ensure that such projects are aligned to Development Planning objectives and specific key performance indicators
Provide strategic direction/guidance for spatial planning.
Coordinate staff activities by means of providing, assistance in terms of needs identified, attending to problems, grievances, and disciplinary hearings according to procedure and coaching staff
Assess policies undertaken by other departments or through IGR platforms.
Evaluate and advise on land use applications in term of SPLUMA as well as serve on Municipal Planning Tribunals.
Provide verbal and written correspondence to the public regarding spatial planning policies and new development.
Facilitate and attend community and stakeholder public participation engagements.
Coordinate development and implementation efforts with internal and external departments, agencies, and stakeholders.
Provide strategic advice and support on development to all stakeholders and interested parties.
Manage consultants in the formulation and implementation of plans and policies.
Chair meetings and facilitate workshops.
Manage unit performance, identify deviations, apply corrective actions, evaluate according to KPl's and PI's.
Perform any other related Ad Hoc task and duties requested or required by management.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Relevant B degree or Equivalent tertiary qualification (Urban & Regional Planning)
Valid Driver's License
Meet MFMA minimum competency requirements or quality for dispensation - added advantage
Computer Literacy (MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint)
Excellent Communication and interpersonal Skills Proven Management skills (including analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, conceptual skills, presentation skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills)
Project Management and Financial Management skills and experience Attention to detail
Competent in interpretation, implementation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies
Knowledge of ArcGIS would be an added advantage.
To uphold professional standards at this level of management associated with the position.
