FIELD OFFICER
INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS
PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
REF: PED/IHS/CFA/06
Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 • 3 years’ work experience • Basic computer skills (MS office, Internet, Outlook) • Code B driver’s license
Other Requirements: Basic knowledge and understanding of informal settlements disaster management, com-munity services and eviction processes)• Problem solving skills • Interpersonal skills • Able bodied • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone • Climbing and walking on rough terrains, for purposes of site visits • Required to work outside normal working hours • Good communication skills in the three Western Cape official languages (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa) • Good customer orientation
Responsibilities/Duties: Undertake site inspections • Undertake verification of emergencies and disasters • Assist with numbering of informal structures • Assist with surveys of informal settlements and backyard dwellers • Support informal settlement upgrading projects • Assist with eviction processes • Assist in relocation of evictees and informal settlement dwellers • Monitoring and reporting of land invasion (Anti-land invasion) • General administrative duties • Basic report writing • Assist with maintenance of departmental registers Customer service.

Salary: R 189 889.87- R 246 421.47 (subject to evaluation) Plus benefits
