LAND USE INSPECTOR
LAND USE MANAGEMENT
PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
PED/DM/LUM/URB/11
Applications for the above position are invited from appropriately skilled and qualified candidates. The successful candidates will report to the Senior Land Use Inspector.

Other Requirements: Language Proficiency in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa) ● Report writing skills with attention to detail ● Good human relations, interpersonal and communication skills ● High level of responsibility and professional and ethical con-duct of duties ● Knowledge of relevant land use planning legislation, policies, guidelines and prac-tices ● Negotiations and conflict resolution skills.

Duties: Undertake, assist and support land use enforcement services by monitoring, enforcing and upholding compliance to land use planning and zoning scheme bylaws ● Assist and support to main-tain and update databases, records and registers ● Undertake investigation or site inspection, attend to enquiries and correspondence ● Consider, comment on or make recommendations on any land use enforcement matter associated with or depending on land use rights ● Evaluate and assess land use applications for compliance and ensure conclusion of findings to support decision making ● Provide advice and make information available to the public, land owners, stakeholders or authorities regarding the status of land use enforcement and zoning compliance, legal procedures and relevant processes ● Assist with administrative services related to land use enforcement relating to records, notices, correspondence and communications on complaints, illegal land use and zoning scheme contraventions.

Requirements

Minimum requirements: Recognised National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning (NQF6 qualification )● A minimum of 3-years’ appropriate experience ● A valid Code B driver’s license ● Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite) ● Eligible for registration as a Planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) ● Eligible for registration as a Peace Officer (no criminal convictions)
