SMALL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (SEDA)

NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION INCUBATOR MENTORSHIP

NCI INVITES 35 SMMEs TO APPLY IN ITS CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR 2024/25 FY. APPLICANTS MUST BE FROM WELKOM -MATJHBENG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY (35);

The Programme aims to promote sustainable development of small to medium-sized Built Environment companies, with a view to, amongst other measures, upskilling (skills development and training) and improving their revenue generation and increased capacity to deliver on infrastructure projects.
The duration of the programme is 6 months – 3 years.

Applicants must have proof of residence as part of the submission from ward councilors/municipal billing systems confirmations. Construction businesses from the above categories are encouraged to apply. Please refer to the application form.

Programme: SMME CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT - CIDB GRADES 1 - 5
Description/Requirements: The programme targets CIDB registered contractors with a grading designation
1 - 2 (pre-incubation programme) and 3 - 5 (mainstream), for emerging contractors. The Programme aims to develop the targeted contractors through mentorship, training, office infrastructure and support to become sustainable contracting entities. These programmes will be done either virtually through digital platforms (online) or face-to-face.

Evaluation Criteria: Preference will be given to the following contracting entities: Contractors that have CIDB Grade 1 - 5 in GB, CE, EB, EP ME, SQ, SK, SF, SM, SJ, SN, SO & SH Classes of Works; Companies that are owned by people residing in Matjhabeng Local Municipality (Welkom); and surrounding areas; EME and QSE emerging businesses as per listed categories that are owned by Black Women, Youth and People with Disabilities and: Companies that are owned by South African Citizens (citizens of foreign descent will not qualify even if they have been naturalised);Returnable documents as per table below; Project track record linked to the selected class(s) of works.
The following businesses will NOT be considered:
Individuals that are in the service of the state (even if they have approval from their respective employers); Contractors that are currently part of any other Contractor Development Programme; Participants who are NOT willing to commit to training obligations of the programme; Foreign Nationals currently residing in South Africa even if they have been naturalised.
Due to limited space, only contractors who meet the qualification criteria will be selected for the programme.

Programme: CONSTRUCTION AND GREEN PRODUCTS MANUFACTURERS
Description/Requirements: Manufacturers must have a registered company and business plan/profile on green product (renewable energy) manufacturing businesses with company compliance documents

Evaluation Criteria: Preference will be given to the following contracting entities: Contractors that have CIDB Grade 1 - 5 in GB, CE, EB, EP ME, SQ, SK, SF, SM, SJ, SN, SO & SH Classes of Works; Companies that are owned by people residing in Matjhabeng Local Municipality (Welkom); and surrounding areas; EME and QSE emerging businesses as per listed categories that are owned by Black Women, Youth and People with Disabilities and: Companies that are owned by South African Citizens (citizens of foreign descent will not qualify even if they have been naturalised);Returnable documents as per table below; Project track record linked to the selected class(s) of works.

Programme: PROFESSIONALS IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT (BEP)
Description/Requirements: Professionals in the Built Environment need to possess a formal qualification within the Built Environment and the motivation to participate in a mentorship programme. NCI’s BEP Programme 2021, seeks to assist Built Environment graduates with access to business development and technical support to build their respective/ newly established businesses.
i. Provide access to resources (office infrastructure) and the ability to apply for professional registration, for 12 months in the programme.
ii. Provide access to resources to prepare close-out reports for submission to SACPCMP; ECSA; ASAQS etc.
iii. Provide access to training in entrepreneurship and or new venture creations programme.

ISSUING OF THE APPLICATION FORMS TO INTERESTED PARTIES: The EOI document will be available online for free on 15 September 2023 from 12h00 (noon) on the NCI website www.natci.org.za.
